What a year in Marriage Equality / by Laurie Cohen

phoenix gay wedding

Today is a good day.  About two years ago I sat across some the table from a team of industry professionals and discussed the probability that gay marriage would be legalized, both in Arizona and across the country.  A few of the other folks in the room didn't think it would happen any time soon (which, I, of course, argued). It seemed like we were on the cusp of a change in America, to a more tolerant mindset with regards to gay marriage.   Almost a year ago we awakened to the news that the Ninth Circuit Court had enabled Arizona LGBT couples to marry and yesterday that the US Supreme Court made Marriage Equality a legal right across the US.

We have all waited so long for this day and on many occasion questioned when and if it would ever come.  Let this serve as a reminder to all of us that anything and everything is possible with perseverance.  Peace.
