| SIP AND TWIRL| ARIZONA WEDDING PLANNER: Here’s a Closer Look Inside Jamie & Eugene’s Contemporary Scottsdale Wedding at the new Andaz Resort by Kristen Bradley

We’ve just had a first look at photos from Jamie and Eugene’s incredible wedding at the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa; needless to say, we are still glowing for this beautiful couple!  Here is a closer look inside their wedding, and how they made their day as unique and as special as they are.

The Venue: Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa

Jamie and Eugene were looking for a venue that would support their vision of having an elegant and contemporary wedding, and after looking at many different venues in Scottsdale, the Andaz was the clear winner.  Anyone considering the Andaz will undoubtedly first notice the stunning views of Camelback, and this couple incorporated the mountain views beautifully for their celebrations.  Check out this shot below.  We particularly loved how the mountain’s silhouette came alive as the sun set behind it!

Another aspect the couple considered when choosing a venue was their guest’s overall experience.  Though this was the very first full-scale wedding held at the Andaz, the resort delivered a first-class experience and event.  The Andaz offers a very comfortable stay in their Spanish casita-style guest rooms, does a phenomenal job in their culinary and beverage offerings, and overall, is very conscious of customer service.  If you, like Jamie and Eugene, are invested in creating a wonderful wedding experience for your guests, this is a solid venue choice.

Wedding Aesthetic

Jamie and Eugene’s design vision was to create contemporary elegance as their wedding day look.  The Andaz lent to this vision as the resort beautifully fuses art with nature.  The Andaz vibe is contemporary, with pops of bright color, curated art, cultural patterns, and at the same time is also serene with cacti and large trees interwoven throughout the property.

For Jamie and Eugene’s ceremony, they selected acrylic ghost chairs and brought in farm tables for the reception with Camelback Mountain as their backdrop.  Because the couple opted to serve food family style, the farm tables worked well, and this was the a great example of form meeting function.  Farm tables are less traditional and formal, but at the same time are very polished and current.  We just loved how everything came together!  Check out these photos below to see how this create a look of elegance in a relaxed and fun environment.

Personal Touches

We absolutely loved the way the couple brought their ceremony to life with some personal touches and new traditions.  Check out this cute photo of their table number cards below.  Each table was numbered by a year, and the cards included two photos - one of the bride and one of the groom from that specific year.

We also were blown away with how the couple made each guest feel welcomed and special.  Not only did they recognize people’s birthdays and anniversaries in their opening toast, but they also included a photo of the guest with either the bride or groom (or both) at every single table setting.  You can see in this photo below how the tables were set, and within each name card lay the specific photo.

And finally, here’s an adorable picture from Jamie and Eugene’s ceremony that proves kids add an element of spontaneity and joy to any celebration.

| SIP AND TWIRL| ARIZONA WEDDING PLANNER: Find Your Dream Arizona Wedding Venue with a View by Kristen Bradley

The rugged Sonoran desert landscape across Arizona makes for some truly spectacular places to get married.  The region is dotted with mountains, ravines, and can hold beautiful contrasting colors from the red earth to the green cacti.  As wedding planners, one of our jobs is to align a couple’s vision with the right venue.  Of course, booking a venue with a unique view remains a priority for most of our clients.  In no particular order, check out the short list below to learn more about some of our favorite venues with a view.

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, 10600 E Crescent Moon Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85262

The Four Seasons is located in Scottsdale, and it offers three gorgeous ceremony sites, Ironwood Terrace, Fountain Terrace, and Troon Lawn, that boast nearly 270 degree views of the Phoenix valley.  This incredible venue is perfect for couples who are looking for an elegant and gracious setting on their wedding day.  What makes the Four Seasons really unique is it’s north Scottsdale location.  It’s situated off of Troon North, and at night offers spectacular stargazing opportunities for guests.  Finally, hiking, horseback riding, and world-class golfing is all located on-site or nearby, and makes for a stunning wedding venue choice.

Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa, 6114 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85253

Having just completed the first full-scale wedding at the brand-new Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa this past weekend, we can honestly say we are in love with this delightful desert oasis.  The Andaz is located in Paradise Valley, nearby the base of Camelback Mountain, and the views of the mountain far from disappoint.  Two of the three ceremony sites, Cholla Lawn and Albers Lawn, both are situated with spectacular views of Camelback, and if you plan on holding your ceremony near dusk, the sun sets perfectly to the right of the mountain.  The property artistically blends man-made and natural beauty through the architecture, furniture, pottery, and locally curated art with the surrounding desert plans and landscape.  This venue is ideal for couples who have a contemporary but organic sense of style, and are looking for a location in the heart of Scottsdale.

Desert Mountain, 37700 Desert Mountain Parkway, Scottsdale, AZ 85262

Tucked into the Cave Creek foothills of north Scottsdale, Desert Mountain is among one of the finest private country clubs in the nation, and is known for offering unrivaled golf at one of six Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses.  Because the property sits elevated in the Sonoran Desert, the result is spectacular views of Phoenix and Scottsdale.  Desert Mountain has a variety of locations through the different clubhouses across their acreage, and it’s important to note that as a private community, it is essential to book a tour with one of their staff members or through your wedding planner in advance.  This makes Desert Mountain special, as it’s exclusivity will give you a location that can be overlooked by other couples.

Of course we would be remiss if we didn’t include the Montelucia in this post.  Nestled in the foothills of Camelback Mountain, this resort offers truly stunning mountain views - just check out a photo from Meghan and Brendan’s wedding below.  It remains one of the most highly sought after venues in the state, and so if you and your fiancé have your heart set on getting married here, we recommend you call as early as possible.  The Montelucia has been named Most Romantic Wedding Venue by Brides Magazine, and with four ceremony locations on-site, there are a few options that couples can choose between to find the perfect fit.

| SIP AND TWIRL| ARIZONA WEDDING PLANNER: Arizona Wedding Venue Spotlight: Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa by Kristen Bradley

The Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa is now officially booking weddings, and it is an impressive wedding venue choice with its fusion of desert and design.  The entire property, in fact, is an artistic desert oasis.  Each casita-style guest room features carefully curated art, and the property even boasts a local artist in residence program.  Having just coordinated the very first full scale wedding and reception here this past Saturday evening, we wanted to share more with our readers about this incredible Arizona venue.

Authentic Arizona Mountain Views

Anyone considering the Andaz as their wedding venue choice will undoubtedly first notice the stunning views of Camelback Mountain that the property affords.  Two of the three wedding ceremony locations on-site offer spectacular views of Camelback Mountain, Cholla Lawn and Albers Lawn, and nearly all spaces throughout the grounds are influenced by the Sonoran surroundings.  Because the guest rooms are in the style of Spanish casitas, guests can easily stroll the property grounds, taking in the beauty of the Arizona desert.  For guests who will be arriving from out-of-town, this will give them a chance to have an authentic Arizona experience.

Here is a photo that was snapped this past weekend from Jamie and Eugene’s wedding.  Camelback Mountain offers a spectacular backdrop for any couple's ceremony.  Because the sun sets just to the right of the mountain, an evening ceremony will be brought to life with the golden light of the Arizona sun.

Location

Of course one important factor to consider in choosing your wedding venue is location; the Andaz scores big here.  The property is both tucked away in Paradise Valley, and yet is conveniently located in the heart of it all.  The Andaz is easy to find just off of Scottsdale Road, close to all modern conveniences, and is adjacent to Old Town Scottsdale.  This will give your guests access to favorite shopping destinations and Scottsdale night life without noise or traffic disrupting their stay.  Once arriving on the property, you and your wedding guests will feel transported away from the buzz of the city and immersed into a desert sanctuary.  The Andaz does a spectacular job of embracing its desert home and making guests feel welcomed and looked after, leaving even the most discerning brides blissed out.

Check out these two photos of the property, one of the grounds, and the other of the stunning Harper House, one of three suites couples can book for their wedding night.

Desert & Design Fusion

As we mentioned before, the Andaz masterfully blends art with nature.  The vibe is both contemporary, with pops of bright color, curated art, cultural pattens, and it’s also serene with cacti and large trees interwoven throughout the property.  Most couples will agree that the design and stylization of their wedding day is important to them, and the Andaz is basically a wedding planner’s dream come true.  Every detail of the property has been carefully and intentionally thought through.  When it’s time to execute your final wedding day vision, you will feel confident that it will be set against an artistically crafted Arizona backdrop.

The amenities and dining at Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa are the final features of this world-class resort that are worth mentioning when considering a wedding venue.  A common concern that couples and their families share is wanting to make sure their guests feel comfortable, well fed, and well hydrated!  The Andaz offers a delicious culinary experience, and you can check out their wedding dining options online here.  Additionally, the resort’s brand new pool is outfitted with semi-private cabanas, oversized daybeds, and plenty of lounge chairs.  The Palo Verde Spa and Apothecary is located of the far south side of the property and offers a menu of treatments that will leave you feeling pampered and ready for your big day.

| SIP AND TWIRL| ARIZONA WEDDING PLANNER: 5 Awesome Ways to Include Your Dad in Your Wedding Planning Process by Kristen Bradley

It’s not uncommon for the father of the bride to be an underutilized resource in your planning process, and the truth is, most dads want to be helpful!  Dads are usually pretty good at following a set of directions; they can keep objective in highly emotional moments, and they want to show their daughters support.  Check out these ideas for ways that you can put your dad to work, while enjoying some amazing moments together leading up to your wedding.

Father Bride Daughter

Making Decisions

It’s easy for brides to feel overwhelmed with the myriad of choices available in stylizing a wedding.  Your dad may be the right person to balance practicality and logistics with your design vision.  Ask your dad what he thinks, and you’re likely to get a straightforward, objective opinion.  Sometimes when a person is too close to a project, it just takes some fresh eyes to find a solution.  Of course professional wedding planners are an excellent resource for this exact reason as well!

Managing Family Members

During your wedding week, and of course the day leading up to your wedding, you will feel your energy and attention pulled in lots of different directions by many different people.  Ask your wedding planner for your wedding timeline or agenda.  Review this with your dad and ask him to help you gently manage your family members and their itineraries.  He can help pick people up from the airport, and get guests situated with the flow of the weekend, freeing up a small portion of your time during the wedding week.

Checking Last Minute Things From the List

Keep a pocket sized notebook with you, or use a note-taking app on your phone to write down any loose ends that you think of leading up to your wedding.  No matter how much you can accomplish, you’ll always need an extra set of helping hands to finish last-moment errands and tasks.  Your dad will most likely not only love coming to your aid, but will probably welcome getting a bit of fresh air from the wedding week action inside the house.

Easing Pre-Wedding Anxiety

If you are experiencing jitters about your wedding, or even a classic case of ‘cold-feet’, your dad can be a wonderful listening ear and confidant.  Go out for a drive, or take him out for a soothing cup of tea, and share what’s on your mind.  After all, your dad has likely been in a similar position as you in the past.  He has your best interests at heart, and will ultimately want to give you valuable advice.

Having Fun

Don’t forget, you still have your big moment coming up with your dad at your wedding for your father-daughter dance!  If your dad isn’t known for his smooth dance moves, suggest taking a couple of ballroom dance classes together.  Letting loose with your dad can alleviate some of the pre-wedding stress, and bonus, if you enjoy yourself and your fiancé is game, sign up for a few extra classes with your husband-to-be.

There are lots of additional ways that dads can help in the wedding planning process.  Leave us a comment with the ways that your dad or another loved one came to your rescue during your wedding.

| SIP AND TWIRL| ARIZONA WEDDING PLANNER: Watch Your Love Bloom this Spring with these 10 Dates by Kristen Bradley

Looking for some creative date ideas to keep things exciting with your person?  Look no further!  Here are 10 fun, unique and romantic date ideas to strengthen your relationship one date at a time this spring.

Spring Couple Love Flowers

Plant an herb garden.  Head to your local nursery or natural grocer to find basil, rosemary and mint plants or seeds, (or any variety of your favorites), to plant at home.  Watching something grow together will feel great all season.

Go hiking during wildflower season. Our favorite spot to go hiking in the spring in Arizona is the Superstition Mountains, where wild desert poppies decorate the landscape.  If you’re into photography, make sure to bring your camera!  If you have allergies, pack your ‘survival kit’ or push back your hike by a few weeks so that you can enjoy your outdoor adventure.

Get a couple’s massage together.  If a massage is out of your budget you can check out Groupon or similar sites for massage deals, or you can pick up your favorite brand’s lotion and scrub to do one at home.  If you are splurging and are local to Scottsdale, go for the Alvadora Spa at the Royal Palms.  You will feel as if you have been transported into an oasis in the heart of the desert.

See a comedy show together.  Laughter creates bonds in a relationship, and will give you something to joke about in the weeks that follow. Check out Scottsdale Comedy Spot Comedy Club in Old Town Scottsdale for a cozy and casual night out.  After you’ve had your fill of stand-up, wander around the streets of Old Town, and peek into the art gallery windows, choosing your favorites.

Get outdoors.  Run, walk the dog, play catch, or stretch in the grass.  Outdoor activities can bring out a more playful side in your relationship.  Some of the best spots in Scottsdale to have fun outside are scattered around the Greenbelt.  Our current favorite spot to stroll or go for a jog is the lake at McCormick Ranch.

Stargazing

Go stargazing.  Drive out of the city for 30-60 minutes, pack a cozy blanket, and a thermos of your favorite beverage.  Arizona boasts unbelievable stargazing, and you can check out a few of the best spots here.  Other essential items to pack include a red flashlight, a musical instrument if you are musically inclined, a laser pointer to point out specific stars, and make sure to download a stargazing app on your smartphone so that you can see which constellations are above you.

Go on a double, or triple date.  Find a local restaurant that specializes in shared plates and delicious wine.  Our favorite spot locally is Kazimierz Wold Wine Bar in Old Town Scottsdale.  Kaz’s wine list is extensive, and their knowledgeable servers will help you navigate the menu to choose the right bottle. You won’t regret ordering the Northern Territory flatbread or the marinated mixed olives.

Go for a walk after dinner.  It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stresses that life throws us, and making space for quality time at the end of the day with your significant other is always a great investment.  Better yet, go for a walk for a few nights in a row, and you may just develop a new positive habit!

Do something unexpected for your partner.  Fill up the tank or get their car washed.  You can also leave a appreciation note in their lunch or work bag.  Make a quick selfie video lip syncing a funny love song, or pick up flowers on your way home from work.  We realize this isn’t a date per say, but have a hunch that your spontaneity will lead you to share a special moment with your person.

Check out that restaurant that you’ve been talking about.  Having a dinner date is the classic romantic date night out, and this time make a exciting by wearing your very favorite outfit, and don’t let you partner see you getting ready!  The build up will create excitement.  If you need help picking out a restaurant, and are local to the Phoenix Valley, check out these new and exciting culinary destinations.
